What Is a Standby Generator
If you’re considering installing an emergency backup generator, you may be wondering just how it works and what kinds of benefits it can offer you. Installing a whole-home generator can add so much value to your home. There are different types of generators and we can help you choose the right system for your home.
A generator will power your home in the case of a blackout, power outage, or natural disaster. Whole-home systems need to be wired into your home’s electrical panel. This job should be completed by a certified electrician only as you want to ensure the efficacy and safety of your system. We ensure it’s wired properly. Most importantly, we make sure it’s placed the proper distance away from your home so that you don’t have to worry about poisonous carbon monoxide that could be fatal to your family.

Installing GFCI Receptacles in Your Home
A GFCI outlet, short for ground fault circuit interrupter is a type of outlet that is commonly used in newer homes. If you have an older home, you may still be using two-pronged, old-fashioned outlets that pose electrocution as well as a fire risk. It reads currents on both sides of the outlet and will shut the outlet off if it senses any slight difference in current. This greatly reduces the risk of fatal electrocution.
These are best installed in areas where there is a lot of moisture including:
- Kitchens
- Bathrooms
- Garages
- Laundry rooms
- Crawl spaces
- Wet bars
Signs You Need Fuse Box Repair
If you have an older home, you may still be using a fuse box as opposed to a circuit breaker panel. Luckily, we can still assist you with repairs no matter the type of electric system you have. If you’re still not ready for an electrical panel upgrade, we can help with your repairs. Here’s when to call us:
- Your fuses are burning out regularly. This could be due to new appliances.
- You notice bad, burning smells near your fuse box. Shut your box down immediately and call us.
- You’re using higher capacity fuses to handle heightened electrical demand. This can cause a serious fire hazard.
