Is It Time for an Electrical Panel Upgrade?

It’s easy to forget the important role your electrical panel plays in your home. Don’t underestimate its importance. Your circuit breaker is the master system of your home’s electricity. You want to keep your home safe and functional and making sure your system is up to the challenge is important. Here’s when to consider upgrading:

  • Frequently flickering lights: Flickering lights when you’re using other appliances is a good indication that there is something wrong with your panel.
  • Old fuse box: If you still have a fuse box, you may be experiencing issues with it. If you are, these systems are more likely than circuit breakers to be a fire hazard.
  • Old or damaged wiring: Old or frayed wires can be a huge fire hazard. If you notice discoloration or a strange smell, call us right away.
  • Failing or tripping breakers: If you’re constantly dealing with a tripped circuit or blown fuse, your system may be overloaded. We can take a look to identify the issue.
  • Breakers that won’t stay reset: If you have a trip, but resetting does not resolve the issue or it won’t remain reset, there’s a good chance that you’re having breaker problems.

Benefits of Installing a Standby Generator

An emergency backup generator is exactly what it sounds like. It provides a powerful solution for your home in the event of loss of power due to outages or natural disasters. Although there are different types of systems, these systems are generally stationary and are installed outside of your home to ensure safety. They can be powered by different fuel types. Here is why you should consider getting one:

  • Keep the lights on.
  • Maintain a safe environment and keep security systems powered.
  • Keep your AC, heat, or refrigeration on so that you don’t have to worry about the loss of property.
  • Keep computers, appliances, and other entertainment or work systems running.

Upgrading Your Power Outlets

You likely don’t pay very much attention to your power outlets. Believe it or not, the type of outlet you have is very important! Many codes require a certain type of outlet to be used. The most common safety features are GFCI receptacles and AFCI outlets. They offer added security benefits so that you can ensure your system is running safely.

  • GFCI: These outlets have a safeguarding feature to prevent accidental electrocution. It functions by shutting off automatically when it senses a difference in currents inside and outside, preventing accidental electrocution. These will be installed in areas in your home with access to moisture.
  • AFCI: Although they’re called outlets, these are not outlets in the traditional sense of the word. These safeguard against the risk of an electrical fire. As such, they’re installed where there is most likely to be an issue with this; your circuit panel.

Remove panel from inside of cabinet use existing panel as a splice box remove all breakers and guts use seal tight four main feed and seal tight for circuits branch off to new 125 amp Inch and a quarter seal tight it’s gonna be needed inch and a quarter seal tight connectors as well. If seal tight does not fit in location I suggest to use 1 1/4 LR and EMT. There will be a diagnostic done when technicians come back to install panel if there’s any broken wires or circuits that need to be relocated or repair there will be an additional charge.
